The Smart Wheelchair project aims to design and implement a system of
autonomous navigation for electric wheelchairs based on obstacle
detection and avoidance, along with the indoor and outdoor tracking of
the wheelchair, thus allowing for the creation of geo-contextual
applications helpful for disabled people.

The system will use different kinds of sensors, embedded in the
wheelchair and disposed in the environment, in order to improve the
